Judy grew up on her parents farm in Warwickshire. The farm reared poultry for eggs and Norfolk Black turkeys for Christmas. They bottled and marketed milk from their award-winning, pedigree Jersey cattle herd as well as farming Clun and Kerry Hill sheep and British Lop pigs all of which are now classed as Rare Breeds.

1965 - The family moved to Gloucestershire where Judy trained as a cook serving her apprenticeship with Searcys in London. Her work took her all over Europe expanding her knowledge of different styles of food and different cuts of meat.

1981 - Judy returned to Gloucestershire to start her own catering business; Directors lunches, Polo Club teas, private parties and large functions for up to 500 people.

1981 - Judy became a member of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) having always kept her interest in farming and breeding and exhibiting chickens.

1990 - The Butts Farm was purchased with the purpose of working towards opening the farm to the public to promote British livestock rare breeds.

1991 - Judy saw The Butts Farm finally opening its doors to the first of many visitors, young and old.
